The music of Piotr Rachoń Quartet is contemporary jazz, full of dynamics and surprising twists, spacious, with musical meditation. Piotr is an artist who has made a name for himself in numerous projects at the intersection of avant-garde, free jazz, ethno and classical music. We could hear him, e.g. in JazzBlaster, Jorgos Skolias, Pulsarus or Avatar Orchestra. The pianist has collaborated with musicians from around the world, including ethnic musicians from Tuva. All this wealth of musical and life experience can also be heard in his music. Piotr Rachoń’s sounds are difficult to confuse with any other pianist. The result of his musical travels is an unconventional approach to improvisation and discovering little-known folk motifs. The group made its debut in the summer of 2020 at the RCK ProJazz Festival in Kołobrzeg, as well as at Sala Koncertowa Polskiego Radia, where they recorded a concert online as part of V Sessions (V Records). The material for the first album was recorded in October 2020 at Leszek Możdżer’s studio. The album was released by the Wrocław-based label V Records. The album Amazonia features compositions by Piotr Rachoń interwoven with ethnic themes of indigenous Mongolian music. The quartet’s music is mature primal jazz with space for contemplation.
