Jerzy Wilk is the winner of international jazz competitions: Kalisz, San Sebastian, Monaco – Grand Prix. Graduate of the Academy of Music in Wrocław (as well as Wrocław University of Science and Technology). He has won the 3rd prize in the competition at Międzynarodowy Festiwal Pianistów Jazzowych in Kalisz (1981), 2 prizes with Zbigniew Lewandowski’s GAIN band at International Jazz Festival in San Sebastian (1985), the Grand Prix for his Green Barman composition at International Jazz Composition Competition in Monaco (1986). Long-time member of the Alex Band orchestra (1981-2015). Co-founder and member of the bands Hokus, Katia Roman & Co, Jazz Vox, Market, Wilcze Sidła, Gain, Wrocław Band, Oweyo. He has conducted many music workshops organised by PSJ o/Wrocław. He has worked with, e.g. Ewa Bem, Wojtek Karolak, Zbigniew Namysłowski’s Air Condition, Andrzej Zaucha. With Alexander Maliszewski’s Alex Band orchestra, he has toured and recorded for national and international radio and television stations. In 2021, his Wilcze Sidła quartet released their debut CD, Tribute To Jazz club Rura.
Today, he is a music commentator, columnist. His bands: Quartet and Trio – bear the name WILCZE SIDŁA, gathering younger prominent Wrocław (but not only) jazz musicians: Tomasz Wendt, Tomasz Pruchnicki, Grzegorz Piasecki, Jakub Olejnik, Tomasz Wilczyński, Piotr Zarecki, Jakub Jugo, Zbigniew Lewandowski, Grzegorz Pałka.
