The final of current edition of the contest, which for years has been discovering the most promising artists of the young jazz scene is ahead of us. This year, six talented bands will compete for the Grand Prix. The winner will be announced on the first day of the Jazz nad Odrą festival during the award ceremony at the Impart Centrum.
The Qualification Committee, consisting of Dominik Gawroński, Bartosz Pernal, and Igor Pietraszewski, selected six bands from 18 submitted applications that will perform in front of the festival audience and the competition jury during the final auditions on April 23 at the Impart Centrum. The winner of the Grand Prix of the Wojtek Siwek Jazz Individuality Competition 2025 will receive, among others, 25.000 PLN funded by the Mayor of Wrocław and a Rybotrąbka statuette.

Among the finalists is the band Fleeting Monument, which emphasizes lively improvisations and a uncompromising approach to jazz, drawing inspiration from the works of Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane. The trio Earthgrazers, is also competing and combines improvisation with subtle harmony inspired by the aesthetics characteristic of the ECM label, next the Blu/Bry quintet shaped by the music of artists like Walter Smith III, Avishai Cohen, and Tomasz Stańko. Another group participating in the final auditions is the Tomasz Lepczak Quartet, which focuses on deeply exploring original material while not neglecting tradition and performing jazz standards in both classic and modern arrangements. In the final, we will also see the formation Święto Osy, which consistently builds its own musical language by blending jazz with elements of hip-hop and avant-garde, and the Piotr Andrzejewski Trio, whose style refers to modern New York jazz and the calmer variations of European jazz.
The announcement of the jury’s verdict and the award ceremony will take place on the first day of the Festival at 7:00 pm at the Impart Centrum in Wrocław. The laureates of the Grand Prix of the Wojtek Siwek Jazz Individuality Competition 2025 will also perform at the concert on April 24, at 6:00 pm.
