Seven new artists will be joining the autumn edition of Jazz on the Odra Festival!

This year’s programme will feature seven new artists, who will be performing under the auspices of Jazz Forum Talents. The musicians will take place of a group that cannot make an appearance.

This year’s edition of Jazz on the Odra Festival will rather unusually be held in October. The event – which usually takes place in April – will last for five days and once again bring together jazz fans from all over Poland.  Unfortunately the restrictions resulting from the coronavirus pandemic continue to cause problems for the event. The concert of Darek Oleszkiewicz, Peter Erskine, and Alan Pasqua scheduled for 9 October was cancelled. However organizers were quickly able to find a worthy replacement. A group of seven artists will take the stage instead of the cancelled trio, that is: Kasia Pietrzko, Jakub Mizeracki, Maciej Kądziela, Kacper Smoliński, Tomasz Chyła, Roman Chraniuk, and Adam Zagórski

Jazz Forum Talents is a group of some of the best aspiring jazz musicians in Poland, who one year ago took part in the Jazz Forum Showcase powered by Szczecin Jazz. Each of these seven fantastic musicians is now well renowned and won various awards and distinctions in the largest national competitions – their songs often rank high in the charts. Some have even won in the JAZZ FORUM reader polls – both individually and as part of their original bands (Kasia Pietrzko Trio, SKICK-SKIUK, Tomasz Chyła Quintet, Weezdob Collective, and ZK Collaboration).

A large portion of this team in February this year made an expedition to Charlie Parker’s hometown of Kansas City to celebrate the centenary of the birth of this jazz genius. The Polish contingent performed at a special concert at the famous The Ship club and recorded the “Jammin ‘with KC” album featuring American jazz luminaries: Sylwester Ostrowski & Jazz Forum Talents feat. special guests Bobby Watson, Logan Richardson, Keyon Harrold, and Eric Allen.

56th edition of Jazz on the Odra Festival will begin on 6 October with an opening concert at the Wrocław Centennial Hall featuring Możdżer Danielsson Fresco & Holland Baroque as well as Kasia Pietrzko Trio. During the next four days Impart will be brimming with music performed by China Moses, the John Scofield & Dave Holland duo, EABS band featuring special guests and more.

Tickets for the set in the theatre hall on 9 October (Jazz Forum Talents and John Scofiled & Dave Holland Duo) remain valid. If you decide not to attend the concerts due to the change in the program, please see our ticket guidelines.
