It’s jazz time in October!

The date of the opening concert and the largest piece of this year’s Jazz on the Odra festival has been revealed. Now we have provided you with the full list of October performances.

Jazz on the Odra Festival in Wrocław is usually scheduled for April. The coronavirus epidemic forced us to change our plans, however we were able to salvage the event programme almost in its entirety. – First we had to move the festival’s opening concert, during which Możdżer Danielsson Fresco & Holland Baroque and the Kasia Pietrzko Trio will showcase for the first time their latest material. New date for the event forced us to change the location, which made it possible to sell additional tickets – even though the concert was previously sold out. The other artists also immediately confirmed their willingness to perform on the new date. As a result we were able to reschedule the festival, while maintaining the previous line-up – said Krzysztof Maj, General Director of The Culture Zone Wrocław.

Ultimately this year’s Jazz on the Odra Festival will last for five days – from 6 October to 10 October and is still a fantastic opportunity to see the very best of Polish and international jazz performers.  That includes the phenomenal China Moses, a soul and jazz music vocalist (daughter of Dee Dee Bridgewater, an undisputed icon if jazz) and Valeriy Stepanov, creative pianist and one of the best multi-instrumentalist in Russia. The Wrocław’s own EABS band will once again grace the Impart’s scene. This time they’ll present their Slavic Spirits album inspired by Slavic mythology and Polish demonology, with several featured guests. Piotr Wojtasik, a famous trumpeter, will showcase his latest project – VOICES, featuring the White Stork Synagogue Choir from Wrocław.

And brand new artists who joined the programme of the autumn edition are John Scofield and Dave Holland. The world-famous guitarist and double bass player performing as a duo will play in Wrocław original compositions each have contributed to their repertoire with a selection of jazz standards added to the mix.

We also kept in mind aspiring musicians that compete each year for the title of “Jazz Personality”. This jazz competition has a long tradition and it will take place in October as well. Submission period has been extended by a month, so you may submit your candidacy until 20 April.

ATTENTION! Tickets already purchased remain valid.
