Announcing the new date of the opening concert of the 56th edition of the Jazz on the Odra Festival

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Culture Zone Wrocław introduces changes concerning this year’s edition of the Jazz on the Odra Festival. We already have the first details.

In the first announcement, published on the festival’s social media profiles, we informed that we were working on a new date. Now we are happy to announce the first information about the concert inaugurating the 56th edition of the Jazz on the Odra Festival. The opening concert, featuring Możdżer Danielsson Fresco & Holland Baroque and Kasia Pietrzko Trio will take place on 6 October at the Centennial Hall.

Our work on moving the festival without too many changes to its current shape are very advanced at that point in time. To begin with, we want to share information concerning the biggest production of this year’s edition the opening concert. We found a convenient date, and what is more, we also decided to move the concert to a larger hall. On the first day of March the old venue was fully sold out, so I hope that this time there will be enough tickets for all”, said Krzysztof Maj, General Director of the Culture Zone Wrocław.

Changing the concert venue forced us to start selling new tickets for the event, but this won’t come at the expense of all the jazz lovers – we did not forget about them. “As a token of gratitude for your patience and trust, we also decided to lower the ticket prices.  On behalf of all the performing artists and our team, I strongly encourage you to read the guidelines concerning refunding the tickets purchased to date, and I would like to ask you to choose our concert once again,” Maj added.

The opening concert features two outstanding performances. The opening act will be presented by young pianist, arranger and composer, who has been enjoying nothing but enthusiastic reviews since Fortright Stories, her 2017 debut album. Apart from the leader, the Kasia Pietrzko Trio project’s line-up comprises Piotr Budniak, drummer and composer with a long resume of musical achievements, as well as Andrzej Święs, leading double bass player of the Polish jazz scene and representative of its youngest generation.

In the second part of the evening, we are going to see Leszek Możdżer, artistic director of the festival, alongside Lars Danielsson, Swedish bassist and cellist, and Israeli drummer Zohar Fresco. The musicians will be accompanied by the Holland Baroque orchestra. The trio has released three studio albums to date, and for their upcoming album, the musicians invited the Holland Baroque orchestra, with whom Leszek Możdżer recorded his Earth Particles in 2017. The concert at the Centennial Hall will be a part of the premiere tour promoting just ignore it – their new release.
